Welcome to the Marlborough Public Schools Curriculum Web page. The goal is to make this page useful to families and the entire community in becoming more informed about the district’s priorities for our students’ educational experiences. Units of study for grades 9-12 will be published in the fall of 2013 as work to align curricular areas to the Common Core has been ongoing during the 2012-2013 school year and will continue into the next year. Much work has been accomplished thus far and we look forward to sharing the units currently under construction as they approach near completion. This work represents a great deal of collaborative dialogue and development on the part of curriculum leadership teams who formed out of our schools; these classroom practitioners have led the charge of aligning, leading and representing the collective thoughts of their colleagues. Without the tireless efforts of these professionals, this work would not be possible. As you review the key knowledge and skills with which your children will be working over the course of the year in each discreet content area, please keep in mind that these units are still under construction and therefore reflect some areas of incompleteness. Our teams continue to build and enhance these units and they will be updated on this site periodically. |

| Curriculum Update Community Event |
| On November 19, 2012, the Office of Teaching and Learning hosted a grades preK-8 Curriculum Update Family Event at which district educators shared the curriculum development process and progress with parents of students grades preK-8.To see the evenings presentation, click here. Parents who attended the event were provided copies of the National PTA Parent Guides to Student Success. These documents break down the Common Core into very accessible language, and they are useful tools for parents who want a good shapshot of students' expectations and learning. These guides, posted in both English and Spanish and specific to each grade K-8, can be found at http://www.pta.org/content.cfm?ItemNumber=2796. |

| Marlborough Public Schools Curriculum Accommodation Plan | |
Massachusetts General Laws require the adoption and implementation of a District Curriculum Accommodation Plan (DCAP). This plan is intended to guide principals and teachers in ensuring that all possible efforts are made to meet student needs in general education classrooms and to support teachers in analyzing and accommodating the wide range of student learning styles and needs that exist in any school. |

| The Learning Lens - Our Foundational Work | |
During the Summer of 2011, more than 30 educators from across the city gathered together to review the newly released Common Core state standards and their impact on teaching and learning by “unpacking” them and creating our Learning Lens documents. While not our “curriculum” so to speak, the Learning Lens documents represent an overview of our district’s preK-12 curriculum and the foundation from which the rest of the curriculum work is being built. To view the Learning Lens documents, go to the Curriculum Learning Lens Web page. |
